Battles Looming Over First Amendment Rights | Homeland Security

Battles Looming Over First Amendment Rights | Homeland Security Silencing Republican and conservative voices, regulating the internet, favoring certain news organizations--these are the goals of the current administration. The DISCLOSE Act was just one weapon in the larger assault against free speech. Is our government intent on destroying the First Amendment? Or are they working towards these goals for the greater good?

Silencing my freedom of speech is not for my greater good. I am fighting back.

Is Obama a Facist? | Editorial So are we now a fascist country or are we just headed in that direction? J.D. The article gives a good explanation of fascism and what it means for our country.

Comments: Memo outlines backdoor 'amnesty' plan - Washington Times

Comments: Memo outlines backdoor 'amnesty' plan - Washington Times Well, now a memo has surfaced suggesting that the Obama administration is considering a plan to give what amounts to blanket amnesty to millions of illegals by executive order. The memo lists suggestions of how to implement help for illegals without having to go through congress.  If this is the case, let's hope President Obama decides not to go with this because if he does he is in danger of seriously overreaching his presidential powers. Such action is likely unconstitutional and would not be allowed to stand.  Furthermore, if he continues to circumvent Congress in matters of legislation and appointments it will make him unpopular even with the democratic members of Congress. It also increases the likelihood of impeachment proceedings.  One wonders why he would even contemplate such a suicidal move. Sometimes it seems like he would rather be a dictator than a president. For the sake of America I hope he never considers this plan.

Now that the "secret" is out, how long do you think it will take for the Obama administration to issue a statement dismissing the whole thing? Wait for it...wait for it...

SAVE Act and CLEAR Act Can Overturn Judge Bolton's Decision on Arizona Immigration Enforcement Law | NumbersUSA - For Lower Immigration Levels

SAVE Act and CLEAR Act Can Overturn Judge Bolton's Decision on Arizona Immigration Enforcement Law | NumbersUSA - For Lower Immigration Levels Gee, what a concept. Just think, if the federal government had done its job in the first place by passing such acts as CLEAR and SAVE, Arizona would never have had to enact its controversial law, formerly known as SB1070. Who knew??

This is a great article explaining the implications of Judge Bolton's decision and what it will mean for Arizona and America. Although the most controversial items were blocked most of the law remains intact and will be enforced. And this isn't the final decision because the most controversial aspects will be reviewed to see if they are constitutional. The state of Arizona has also filed an appeal as of today. So things are still active on this front. The most important thing for all of us to do right now is contact our senators and congressmen and tell them to support the SAVE and CLEAR acts. Start now because the elections are just a few months away and a lot can happen between now and then so we need to keep up the pressure!! On the bright side, even though this seems a win for the other side right now the game is far from over. The reason they have not achieved their amnesty goals so far is because of all our hard work to keep it from happening. So let's stay strong and let's keep working towards real immigration reform!

Talks Open on UN World Arms Treaty

EDITORIAL: U.N. threatens Second and First Amendments - Washington Times I have been receiving emails for over a year now from various gun groups warning about US support for a UN Arms Trade Treaty.  Now that the talks have officially opened we are seeing this reported for the first time in the main stream media..

Quietly, without fanfare, the UN has been holding meetings behind closed doors for years to work on a global arms trade treaty which is projected to be ready by the year 2012.  This treaty will be legally binding on every nation that signs it and will establish a form of global arms control and registry for everything from handguns to fighter jets. According to the Washington Times The Heritage Foundation thinks that some form of world gun registry will almost certainly be a part of this treaty.  There will be many other provisions as well addressing such things as video game content and human trafficking.  However, the potential for global gun control and a world registry is getting the most attention right now because it has such huge implications for our first and second amendment rights.

The push for a world arms treaty has actually been going on in the UN for quite sometime.  The Bush administration narrowly stopped it a few years ago, believing that the issues addressed would be better solved by nations themselves.  The Obama administration, backed by anti-gun and weapon groups, now supports the talks and wants to move forward towards a treaty.  The Seattle Times article below  makes a great case for global arms control and I'll admit that on the surface it sounds pretty good.  The world is pretty dangerous now and I can't blame those who would want to do all they can to make it safer.  In fact the article makes the arms treaty sound like such a good idea that if I didn't know better I would not only  jump on the arms treaty bandwagon, I would drive it.  But here are my concerns. Whatever our feelings about gun control, I think we Americans need to understand first and foremost that achieving it through global governance will not only directly assault our Constitutional rights but will also subject a huge chunk of our sovereignty to a world governing body, the UN.  The fact that this particular governing body is notoriously corrupt, inefficient and ineffective gives me even greater cause for concern.

Another concern is countries and regimes that already give guns, money and other weapons to terrorists.  Who really thinks such countries will abide by a mere treaty?  I don't believe for one minute that this treaty will be effective because people and nations always find ways to break the rules.  What the treaty will do is cause weapons to be taken out of the hands of law abiding citizens and placed in the hands of criminals, terrorists and countries who want to destroy us. People and nations the world over will lose the right to defend themselves.  .

One final thought.  Americans must decide whether or not the Constitution and our national sovereignty are still important to us because we are at the point now where we must fight for them like never before.  For the first time we have an administration that is all too willing to solve problems by weakening us as a nation and subjecting us to world rule. We have to decide if we want to solve problems as a strong nation or as weak member of a world body.   If this treaty comes to pass we will have one final stand we can take as a nation.  For the treaty to be legal the Senate must ratify it.  If we do not want this treaty, now is the time to start flooding our senators' offices with emails, phone calls and letters demanding they not ratify it.  Otherwise world government is just a step away.

The American Spectator : AmSpecBlog : Reid to Netroots: "We're Going To Have a Public Option" Mr Reid says "it's just a matter of when." Hmm...you mean when it is repealed?

Besides Mr Reid have you looked at what is happening in Britain now? They are decentralizing their "romantic" health care system and giving physicians more control. They believe this will cut costs and save money. So it seems we are a little behind the times trying to push our country towards a public plan don't you think? Hmmm...maybe you don't think.

Britain Plans to Decentralize National Health Care - NYTimes.com Well well it appears that the US is not the only country massively reorganizing its health care system. Britian is looking to decentralize its health care system in an effort to save money. It seems we are a little behind the times in our efforts to go for a public plan. How long will it take us to figure out what the Brits have already learned--that it costs too much?

Boehner Wants 'Bill Read' Rule

Boehner Wants 'Bill Read' Rule House Minority Leader is throwing his support behind a "read the bill" reform that would prohibit the House from considering new legislation until it has been posted on the Internet for at least three days and Congress has had time to read them.

Wow! What a novel idea! Think it will catch on? Oh but wait...I thought we already had an open transparent government. Didn't Obama and Pelosi tell us that? Hmmm...I guess it's only open and transparent when they want it to be, not when they are trying to cram bad legislation down our throats. In that case maybe we do need a "read the bill" rule. My question is will they follow it?

Less money for dead people: Obama signs waste law - Yahoo! News

Less money for dead people: Obama signs waste law - Yahoo! News Rejoice! Obama has signed a law slashing payments to dead people, fugitives and those in jail who shouldn't be getting benefits by 50 billion dollars. So that's good right? Well it's good start but the catch is that there were $110 billion in such payments last year alone representing the highest amount of payments ever. One has to wonder why the law doesn't stop the payments altogether while they sort out who is supposed to have what. After all they are stopping Medicare reimbursement for physicians suspected of Medicare fraud so why not stop payments in this instance? I'm just saying...

Otherwise it's a good plan. I think we can all agree dead people shouldn't be getting any money. Now how about not allowing dead people to vote? I'm just saying...

Girl gets hand stuck in Metro station escalator - Washington Times

Girl gets hand stuck in Metro station escalator - Washington Times A four year old girl fell on the escalator at L'Enfant Plaza and is now hospitalized with "significant injuries" to her hand. There are now four comments attached to this asking where the parents were at the time and why weren't they watching her or holding her hand. As the mother of a former four year old, now 19 year old, I will withhold judgement until further details come out. As any parent knows, things can happen quickly even when you are right beside kids and have taken the utmost precautions. Who knows, the accident might have been worse if someone was holding her hand because she might have taken that person with her as she fell. In the words of Forrest Gump "that's all I have to say about that" until further details come out. But I will entertain thoughts on how the government will react to this. A moratorium on escalator use? Wait for it....wait for it...Just kidding! That will never happen because there are too many Washington bureaucrats that have to get to work on time!

What I would like to see is a reconfiguration of escalator handrails which currently do not have a stable hand grip. If you do fall you have nothing to grab onto to break the fall. Now that would be a good use of tax payer dollars without penalizing the many people who use those escalators.

Now will the parents sue the Metro? That's another story.

Letters to the Editor: Standardized Medicine Doesn't Mean Better Medicine - WSJ.com

Letters to the Editor: Standardized Medicine Doesn't Mean Better Medicine - WSJ.com Words of caution from an ear, nose and throat specialist that standardized medicine or "best care" must be based on "an all-too-frequent "right diagnosis."" He estimates that about 40% of his patients were" initially misdiagnosed, usually because of misleading symptoms," and he argues that "cook book" approaches to diagnosis and treatment do not necessarily mean better medicine.

Since standardized care relies so heavily on an initially correct diagnosis I sure hope that medical schools are making their diagnosis and assessment courses even more challenging and demanding than ever before.  The providers of the future are going to have to rely on well-honed diagnostic skills to "get it right" the first time, or at least the second or third times for standardized care to be a cost-saving, even life-saving foundation of the US health care system.

Isn't it wonderful to know that one of Obama's advisors thinks so and is working to that end? How do you think Christians will fare in a predominately Islamic US? Probably as well as they fare in Iran, Iraq and other predominately Islamic nations, which is poorly. The real question is are we prepared to fight against this or are will we continue to be delusional about Muslims and Christians living together in peace and harmony?

Morning Bell: White House Admits Obamacare’s Individual Mandate is a Tax | The Foundry: Conservative Policy News. So now they tell us it's a tax. It is time for Congress and the American people to stiffen their spines and act on the knowledge that this is an unconstitutional bill that needs to be repealed as quickly as possible.

Soros-funded group wants feds to probe talk radio

Soros-funded group wants feds to probe talk radio It is ironic that this group calls itself  "Free Press."  Robert McChesney, an avowed Marxist and founder of  Free Press, wants talk radio probed for so called hate speech. That doesn't constitute a free press in my mind.

So what would constitute hate speech in the minds of these people? A dissenting opinion? What is it with Marxist types that they so enjoy policing others? Is there some sort of DNA mutation that causes this?  These people need a copy of the Constitution and a swift kick in the hind parts.  It is no surprise that George Soros would fund this group as he supports the idea of government-run media.  Soros, McChesney and others claim it would lead to more balanced reporting.  Hmmm...sounds like propaganda and censorship to me.  I wonder if the magazine that contained this quote would be probed for hate speech:

"The hope that fired up the election of Barack Obama has flickered out, leaving a national mood of dispair and disappointment.  Americans are dispirited over how wrong things are and are uncertain that they can be made right again.  Hope may have been a quick breakfast but it has proven a poor supper."

Think that came from a Conservative blog, or talk show?  Think again.  It came from  Mortimer Zukerman, Editor-In-Chief, US News and World Report, July 2, 2010.  Mr Zukerman voted for Obama and his paper The New York Daily News endorsed Obama.   Mr. Zukerman even helped Obama with one of his speeches.  The US News and World Report is considered a bastion of liberal bias.  Would his words be considered fair criticism or hate speech if Mr Soros and Mr McChesney made the rules?

Those currently in political power who change the rules to suit themselves need to know that one day they will be out of power and the rules will apply to them.

Islam in America, The Series | Homeland Security

Islam in America, The Series | Homeland Security This is the first of nine articles exploring the growing influence of Islam in America and the various threats resulting form such influence. Scroll down to find all nine articles, each discussing a particular threat in detail.   Sadly most Americans are either unaware of or indifferent to the slow incremental spread of Islamic influence in their own country. Worse, they have no idea of what this influence will mean to their future as Americans. Don't be one of these ignorant Americans. Resolve from now on to become informed, aware, and vigilant. We must take a stand or risk losing our country to Islam. Start now by reading all nine articles. Then go to work in your communities to stop Islamic influence.

Islam in America Part Two: American Prisons | Homeland Security

Islam in America Part Two: American Prisons | Homeland Security: This is sort of a follow-up on the original February 2009 investigation that "so-called "prison Islam" was the fastest growing religious group in U.S. correctional facilities." You may find it particularly enlightening that groups like the ACLU file lawsuits to guarantee special treatment to Muslim inmates. And how do these inmates express their gratitude? By demanding special treatment, radicalizing fellow inmates, planning jailbreaks, distributing propaganda, and plotting attacks of course! It does seem though that the Federal Bureau of Prisons is finally waking up and doing background checks on the Muslim prison chaplains and other religious service providers. This is a good start because of the clout these chaplains have within and outside of the prison system.

Islam in America: Part Three: Homegrown Training | Homeland Security

Islam in America: Part Three: Homegrown Training | Homeland Security Great article on the problem of Islamic training camps here in America and why it is so hard to track them and to prove they exist. What is interesting, and scary, about this is the fact that even when there seems to be proof of training camps and terror cells, the American public still seems to have trouble accepting it. We just don't want to believe anything like this could be happening here.

Islam in America, Part Four: Lawfare | Homeland Security

Islam in America, Part Four: Lawfare | Homeland Security This article discusses "lawfare" or "stealth jihad" and how jihadists use our freedoms and our laws against us. Shocking!

Islam in America: Part Five: Internet Jihad | Homeland Security

Islam in America: Part Five: Internet Jihad | Homeland Security It's amazing how easy it is to use the internet to promote jihad. This article lists all kinds of sites used to spread jihad and it is mind boggling to think how many there are now compared to even just five years ago.

Islam in America, Part Six: Education | Homeland Security

Islam in America, Part Six: Education | Homeland Security Did you know that your tax dollars are footing the bill for textbooks full of erroneous "facts" about Muslims, all in the name of promoting Islam? Read on to learn more about this and the creeping Islamization of our entire education system. Then investigate your school system to see if they are using any of these textbooks and if they are engaging in any of the infamous "acting Muslim" programs mentioned in this article. These are programs that require students to "act Muslim" for a day and they are not benign exercises in cultural enlightenment. The most important thing is to be extremely aware of what is being taught to your children and to stand against any efforts to promote Islam over any other religion or form of government.

Islam in America Part Seven: Islamification of our Colleges and Universities | Homeland Security

Islam in America Part Seven: Islamification of our Colleges and Universities | Homeland Security: If you have a child in college or a university this is a must read. You will be amazed at the strength of the presence that Muslims have on campuses nation-wide. You will want to investigate how much influence Muslims have and what activities they sponsor. There are so many campuses that have MSA's that it will be difficult to avoid them. The best thing to do is educate your children in how to stand up for their beliefs. There is no substitute for knowing what you believe and why you believe it. Stay alert and stay informed.

Islam in America Part Eight: The Workplace | Homeland Security

Islam in America Part Eight: The Workplace | Homeland Security Very informative article about how the growing influence of Islam in the American workplace is a type of "stealth jihad." Is this happening in your work place? How has it affected you, your co-workers and your supervisors? Write your thoughts and comments below.

I haven't been affected by Islam in my work place but I do remember the Shelbyville TN meat packing plant incident mentioned in this article. A huge outcry against the decision to replace Labor Day with a Muslim holiday for all caused the company to retract the decision. This is what happens when people stand up for their rights. The only way to handle such things is for people to have the courage to speak out and to not be intimidated. But it can' t happen just one time. It has to happen on a daily basis. For it to happen daily, people must be informed and vigilant.

One final thought. This is just another example of the need for comprehensive immigration reform. Don't you find it fascinating that in our quest for cheap labor we imported Somali immigrants who have now become a huge part of this problem? Read the article for details about how this group has become the most demanding of the Islamists. Once again we are turning out to be our own worst enemy in this regard! How much longer are we going to allow our tax dollars to fund programs that perpetuate such absurdities? What will it take to wake us up? Burqas on our grandchildren?

Islam in America, Part Nine: American Fifth Column | Homeland Security

Islam in America, Part Nine: American Fifth Column | Homeland Security This is part nine of the series called "Islam in America" looking at the growing influence of radical Islam in all aspects of American life. This is the final installment, with comments from Frank Salvato of the Basics Project. Mr Salvato makes an excellent point that we are losing ground against fundamentalist Islam in America because we are largely "blind to the incremental encroachment of Islamic culture in to the fiber of American culture." He talks about how we can fight back through education, information, utilization, and support. Along with the previous articles, please forward this through your blogs, twitter accounts, facebook accounts and emails. Get the word out anyway that you can about what is happening with Islam in this country. We don't have much time to turn this around so we must get to work now so that we won' t be living in an Islamic country 20-50 years from now.

Black tea party candidate in Illinois calls out Democrats, NAACP (VIDEO) | Washington Times Communities

Black tea party candidate in Illinois calls out Democrats, NAACP (VIDEO) | Washington Times Communities The title is a bit misleading as the article is more about how a conservative black Tea Party candidate was allegedly denied the right to run for state office. Although the candidate herself, Cedra Crenshaw, speaks out against the NAACP the article is mostly about how the local election board, in cahoots with her opponent, voted to keep her name off the ballot.

Regardless of party affiliation, the integrity of the election process should be sacrosanct. No one should be denied the right to run for office if they are doing so legally. This case underscores the critical need for election reform in this country. A corrupt election process leads to tyranny, so you would think we would be fighting like hell to keep the process clean. Oh...wait a minute...could it be that there are elements in this country who want tyranny? Hmmm...

Medicare fraud bust: $251M in scams - Washington Times

Medicare fraud bust: $251M in scams - Washington Times Now this is what I call reform! Yes I know I have complained a lot about the new Health Care Reform law in the past but this is an important reform that will save us untold millions now and in the future. The old system allowed payments to continue to providers who were under investigation for fraud. Now under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) federal officials not only have the power to overhaul the Medicare system and stop paying suspected fraudulent providers, but they also have broader authority to investigate and arrest providers for fraud. This is a good thing, a necessary thing and I am thankful that it got included in the law.

Medicare and tort reform are two areas where reform can and will have an immediate positive impact on health care savings. Had Congress acted on Medicare reform alone instead of a major health care overhaul, the positive results could have built political good will and paved the way for future reforms. It is most unfortunate that precious political capital has been squandered trying to push massive ideological reforms instead of incremental practical changes that would have immediately helped people, cut costs and saved money. We can only hope that whatever future decisions are made about health care that Medicare reform will always remain because as goes Medicare, so goes the rest of the health insurance industry.

Now on to tort reform!

BLACK REPUBLICAN: National Black Republican Association E-News: The NAACP's Racist Agenda

BLACK REPUBLICAN: National Black Republican Association E-News: The NAACP's Racist Agenda Nice blog piece written by Frances Rice discussing how the NAACP hypocritically gives a pass to Democrats who engage in real racism. She goes on to say that it's the Democrats and their socialist policies that have created the conditions in black communities that the NAACP complains about. From my perspective, how long will African-Americans continue to align themselves with a party that insists on keeping them down? Isn't it time to move on? Why would any group want to be involved with a political party, or a religion or an ideology or a government that would keep them down? It just doesn't make any sense.

Henninger: Berwick Recess Appointment Is Bigger Than Kagan - WSJ.com

Henninger: Berwick Recess Appointment Is Bigger Than Kagan - WSJ.com Henninger makes a great point that Berwick's appointment to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is "probably the most significant personnel decision in a generation." He goes on to say that it is more important than even Elena Kagan's nomination to the Supreme Court. I wonder how many people in this country realize that the CMS has a budget bigger than the Pentagon? I wonder how many people realize that the CMS directly influences everything that happens in American medicine? Do people realize just how much power Dr. Berwick has now? I wonder if people realize the true revolutionary nature of Dr. Berwick's ideas and that Obama has just given him full rein to carry them out without Congressional approval? What's worse is that Congress and the American people were denied a significant, important opportunity to hear this man's views and judge whether or not we wanted him to run this agency. Granted, he may have been appointed anyway. But at least Americans would have had a chance to voice an opinion one way or another and would be clear about his vision for American medicine and the country. This is a guy who is "in love" with socialized medicine and wants to take us there. Don't you think we had a right to know his plans?

The bottom line is that whether or not this was a good or bad choice, we were denied our voice. This is just another example of the process of nudging us towards more regulation, more government control. I wonder how many more times Obama will bypass Congress and the American people before we wake up? Will we accept the gradual socialization of America or will we fight back?

I'm fighting back.

How facts backfire - The Boston Globe

How facts backfire - The Boston Globe Fascinating article citing some studies that show that facts don't always change our minds. Researchers found that misinformed people rarely changed their minds when exposed to corrected facts. In fact (scary thought) they often became more strongly set in their beliefs. This doesn't bode well for the upcoming elections when people are getting ready to vote based on whatever information they may have about a candidate!

This article confirms the importance of getting information from a wide variety of sources. The internet is great but we need to read books, newspapers, magazines as well. We need to actually talk to candidates if possible. No one media source or book or magazine or TV program has all the facts or the answers. Only by looking for and putting together patterns in a wide variety of places can we make truly informed decisions. I find that having an insatiable sense of curiosity about what other people think helps. For example, I definitely have a set of assumptions and beliefs that I have developed from my life experiences over the years. So my motto is "everyone is entitled to my opinion but if I am wrong I can be taught." Funny, it seems lately that when I share my opinion with others they end up agreeing with me! Hmmm...wonder what I am doing right?

Charlotte zings Reid from beyond the grave - John L. Smith - ReviewJournal.com The ultimate put down! Oh dear, is that a pun? In lieu of flowers, she wants Nevadans to vote against Harry Reid! I never thought I would see an obituary quite like this. Apparently the deceased was a die hard Reid supporter who had been lately displeased with his work and thought he had forgotten about the people of Nevada. Gee I thought it was bad to speak ill of the dead. But it's really bad when the dead speak ill of the living! Good luck Harry!

The Tea Party Isn’t Racist - The Daily Beast

The Tea Party Isn’t Racist - The Daily Beast So if you were an organization vested in keeping the same identity you have had for over a hundred years and you felt threatened by the changing political atmosphere what would you do? You would reach for your old tried and true weapon to fight it of course. But what if that weapon was out of date and ineffective? Would you still use it? You most certainly would if it was the only one you had. This is the case with the NAACP. It's most powerful weapon has always been the race card. But the trouble with the race card is that it is losing its punch in an atmosphere where most people realize we need to move beyond race to solve our problems. It is also a totally ineffectual weapon against an organization that won't back down in fear of being labeled racist. I remember the days when the NAACP was a powerhouse organization that did much good for the people it served. But such actions as voting on a referendum against supposed racist elements in the Tea Party movement only serve to keep its members stuck in the past. The question is, will the NAACP leadership realize this and change their platform so they can truly advance the people they serve? Sadly I fear, that yesterday's ruling suggests they fully intend to keep things just the way they are. It is a tragedy because the American people, Tea Party affiliated or not, are getting tired of and impatient with the race card.  One day the NAACP and other similar organizations will find that the race card weapon will be about as useful as a musket against a nuclear bomb.  Good luck with that.

FOXNews.com - NAACP Poised to Vote on Resolution Calling Tea Party 'Racist'

FOXNews.com - NAACP Poised to Vote on Resolution Calling Tea Party 'Racist' Oh yeah, right. Sorry but this is just a political ploy that won't work and will backfire terribly.  The NAACP really should be careful who it calls racist as they are going to end up looking pretty foolish, and pretty darn racist themselves.

By the way, Tea Party people don't care about being called racist.  They know they are not racist, they know what they stand for and they won't let a little name calling or a vote on a resolution from one of the most narrow minded, politically minded organizations in the country to stand in their way.  Keep the names and the actions coming.  It only strengthens their resolve.

White House vs. Nasa. Who’s lying?

Expose Obama Blog Archive White House vs. Nasa. Who’s lying? This includes the video of Charlie Bolden's interview with Al Jazeera TV. Watch and then you tell me if you think he "misspoke."

NASA plans more outreach to Muslim countries – The Write Stuff – Orlando Sentinel

NASA plans more outreach to Muslim countries – The Write Stuff – Orlando Sentinel According to Robert Gibbs, Obama never told Charlie Bolden, Chief NASA Administrator to find ways to reach out to Muslims. Mr Gibbs thinks perhaps Mr. Bolden "misspoke" about said outreach on Al Jazeera TV recently. So what is the truth? Did the Obama administration just decide this was all a bad idea and they should just move on? Are they trying to throw yet another administrator under the bus for "misspeaking?" By the way, have you noticed how many administrators seem to end up under the bus for "misspeaking?" But I digress. Check out this article from the Orlando Sentinel published last February where Mr. Bolden, speaking to a group of young engineering students, specifically mentions NASA's plans to reach out to Indonesia as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. So if what Mr Bolden said in his Al Jazeera interview was not true, then why didn't the Obama administration clear this up at the time this article was published?

It seems pretty clear to me there was no "misspeak" on Mr. Bolden's part. In fact Mr. Bolden has been very clear about his mission. It must be very discouraging to carry out your assigned duties to the best of your ability, only to have the White House Press Corps chief tell the world you "misspoke." I hope more information will be coming out about this.

Planned Parenthood Uses Independence Day to Press for Military Base Abortions Planned Parenthood pressed its agenda for abortions at tax payer funded military base hospitals. The issue at hand is the lack of abortion services for female troops serving overseas. Hmmm...do you think tax payers should fund abortions for those in the military? What about their dependents? Do you think military health care providers should be forced to provide abortions even if it is against their principles? What say you? Comments welcome!

Terrorizing Muslim Women | Global Terrorism

Terrorizing Muslim Women | Global Terrorism  Nice article explaining what happens to women under Sharia Law.  It also explains why Muslim women never speak up about their treatment and why they persecute other women for breaking Sharia Law.  Lovely "religion" we have going on here, don't you think?  Rebel and you die.  Yep that sounds like a good ideological system to bring to this country.   In fact let's not stop there.  Let's bring Islam to the whole world.  Can you imagine the entire world living under such a system?

Oh and that bit about Islam honoring women.  How does treating a woman like half a citizen or property honor her?  How does taking away her ability to make decisions for herself honor her?  How does stoning her or raping her for charges of adultery or rebellion, trumped up or otherwise, honor her?  How does isolating her or covering her up honor her?  How does forcing young girls to undergo a barbaric ritual (female circumcision) to destroy her sexuality honor women?  If this is honor, I want no part of it.

I have said it before and will continue to say that the true measure of a healthy society is the way it treats it's women and children.  It is time for those under the influence of Islam to wake up to the fact that women and children ensure the survival of a civilization and deserve far better treatment than this. There is no place for medieval thinking in a 21st century world.   I

YouTube - EDL: Manchester October 10th promo video This is an amazing video from the English Defense League, fighting against Sharia Law in Britain. Hundreds expected for Sharia law rally, this weekend - PinkPaper.com It looks like the Brit are finally taking a stand against radical Islam and Sharia Law. The gay community is particularly waking up because gays do not fare well under Sharia Law. I firmly believe that before long we will be called to take a similar stand here in this country. Will we be ready?

KUHNER: Why Obama is a cultural Muslim - Washington Times

KUHNER: Why Obama is a cultural Muslim - Washington Times Aside from a completely idiotic debate among some of the commenters as to whether or not the Ottoman Turks invaded Spain and Portugal, this is an excellent article explaining why Obama's actions don't line up with his words, especially when he is talking about Israel, Palestine, Muslims and Islam. Don't let a silly debate where no one knows what they are talking about distract you from the real point of Mr. Kuhner's article.

Farewell To The King Of Pork

Farewell To The King Of Pork Ah yes, the obligatory Robert C. Byrd post, to mark the passing of the longest serving senator ever. I remember writing a report on Senator Byrd for my 9th grade civics class. Since I am 56 years old that should give you an idea of just how long he had been around as he had already been a senator for several years by the time I wrote about him. I don't remember much about the report or why I chose him as a subject but I do remember my parents wishing I had chosen another senator. Now I know why!  We lived in West Virginia until I was 13 years old so no doubt my parents were well aware of Senator Byrd's colorful personality.  Chip Wood, from Personal Liberty, sums up Senator Byrd's legacy better than I ever could so enjoy his article today.  I am no great fan of Senator Byrd but I do owe him one thing, and that is a greater awareness of the role of the senator and the purpose of government.  That report sparked my life long interest in history, political science and government.  History will judge Senator Byrd's unique contributions to his state and the nation.  But as for Senator Byrd and myself, we'll always have 9th grade civics class.  Thank you Senator Byrd, and rest in peace.

Recess Move Draws Bipartisan Fire

No one is disputing the President's right to recess appointments but the way this one was done looks disingenuous, dictatorial, and childish.  Recess appointments usually take place during long recesses but this recess is only two weeks long and there is no pressing national emergency. This was just too good of an opportunity to get Mr. Berwick, a highly controversial candidate, appointed when there was a high risk of Congress rejecting his nomination.  One can imagine the big O saying "nanny nanny noo noo take that America!  I did it just because I can and I don't care what you think!"  It's enough to make us think he actually wants to be thought of as a dictator.  Maybe that's what he thinks a President should be.

New jihadist mag hopes to bomb - Washington Times Ah just what we have been waiting for. Al Qaeda has now published INSPIRE, its first magazine in English aiming to recruit those who don't speak Arabic. Now we can all be privy to bomb making recipes and messages from Osama Bin Laden. Apparently radical cleric Anwar-al-Awlaki is behind it. The only good news is that they are having trouble getting the whole thing up and running online--only 3 pages available so far. Let's hope the bomb magazine really does bomb.  You know what's sad?  This is one magazine that will never be censored.

Democrats Cast Patraeus in New Light

Click on the title for another article sent by my very astute brother explaining why and how General Patraeus almost overnight became the Darling of the Democrats.  It still amazes both of us how the General went from being Bush's man, and therefore evil, to Obama's man and thus now good.  If it weren't so serious it would be funny!

The comments to this article are well worth taking the time to read.  One commenter observed that possibly the reason Obama chose General Patraeus was to keep him from running for president in 2012 by making him unpopular if he lost the war.  That is an interesting theory but if true, it would be a huge gamble on Obama's part considering Patraeus' success in Iraq.  Patraeus intends to win.  The question is does this represent a change of heart, that Obama is now ready to win the war?  Or more importantly, will Obama let General Patraeus win the war?  Only time will tell.

Soros Funded Group Advocates For Government Run Press

These people actually think the media would do a better job of investigative reporting if the press were government run.  Click on the title to read the article.  They also seem to think that free speech would be better protected under a government run system because false statements, lies, etc would be filtered out and only the "truth" would be made known to the public.

Does anyone else besides me see the danger such thinking presents for free speech?  Who out there really believes a government run media would be more protective of free speech?  What is happening to our country that anyone could embrace this as a good idea? Ask the Russians, or the Venezuelans, or the Iranians how well government run media is working for them.

NASA Chief: Next Frontier Better Relations With Muslims

The Chief of NASA says that upon his appointment Obama charged him with three things he was supposed to do, FOREMOST of which was to make Muslims feel good about their historic contributions to math and science as well as involve them in more NASA programs.  So what is he supposed to do exactly?  Burp them after feeding and wipe their butts?  Give them gold stars on their math and science projects and hang them on the workplace refrigerator?  Make them teacher's pet and let them all go to the head of the class?  Oh yeah...maybe he is supposed to give all the plum projects to Muslims while other engineers and scientists get shoved aside.  Yeah...that's it.

This is another example of Obama's condescending attitude and appeasement agenda.  But it  may have the opposite effect of what he intended.  Arab Muslims in particular will no doubt be insulted as they already know and value their historic contributions to math and science because they invented most of it.  Instead of appeasement this ridiculous policy will result in handing over a significant chunk of our space program to anti-American countries who will tell us "so long suckers!"  Once again, in the words of Pogo,  "we have met the enemy and they is us."  Or should we say, we have met the losers and they is us?

Declaration Of Independence

Declaration Of Independence Yes I know it's the day after Independence Day but it is still a good idea to read the Declaration of Independence any time of the year. Now that the barbeques and fire works are over, perhaps it would be good to reflect on this all important document that changed everything for America and started a revolution that changed the world. While reading it I couldn't help but think that the circumstances and events of 1776 were not unlike what we are facing today. In fact it is a document that could easily have been written in our time. Once again I ask, are we ready to pledge "our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor?" It is time to get ready!

Yet the Obama administration continues to state the economy is heading in the right direction. The author disagrees. I disagree. Most of America disagrees. Who is right? And how long do we have to wait to find out who is right?

Jay Leno Demonstrates Effectiveness of American History Education

Click on the title to see a video of Jay Leno asking people American History trivia questions.  You will be amazed (hopefully) at the flat out stupid answers that some of these people give.  At first I laughed but as the video went on I became more and more angry at an education system that would let so many people get through without the most basic knowledge of the history of our country.  At the end of the video I just wanted to cry. Wouldn't it be cool if we could all do something to educate ourselves in American history in celebration of Independence day?  How about reading a book about a founding father or visiting a museum, or going to a patriotic gathering?  Last year on July 4th I went to St John's Church in Richmond Virginia with my daughter and her friend to listen to a reenactment of Patrick Henry's stirring speech, "give me liberty or give me death."  It was an awesome way to remember the difficult circumstances and uncertainty that the American colonists were facing during the days before the American Revolution.  Many of them were unsure as to whether going to war would be the best solution.  Patrick Henry reminded them that regardless of what they thought, the British were coming and were determined for war.  He assured the uncertain colonists that it was better to accept the reality of war and to be prepared to fight rather than lose everything they had worked for.  He then proclaimed that as for himself, "give me liberty or give me death."  His words stirred up the colonists and gave them the resolve and determination they needed to face the British.  Hopefully we all know the rest of the story!

Patrick Henry's words are a timeless message for today, reminding us that we have faced difficult and uncertain times before and that we can prevail once again if we remember what we stand for and what we are fighting for.  So on this Independence Day let's make his words "give me liberty or give me death" our own and pass them on to future generations of Americans.  Let's take heart that there will be future generations and they WILL be Americans and let's resolve to better educate them in American History!  God bless America and happy Independence Day!

The Corner - Honor Killings On the Rise

The Corner - National Review Online Even famous actresses can be potential victims of honor killings. The recent attempt on Harry Potter actress Asham Azad's life by her own father and brother recently made world headlines. Her crime? Dating a Hindu, which is a capital crime in the Muslim tradition. Now a beautiful young woman, full of promise, must go into hiding and be protected from her own family. What a shameful tragedy. Why would her family, who must have been enjoying the fruits of her labors as an actress in four extremely lucrative Harry Potter movies, want to kill her? How does killing a beautiful young woman restore honor to a family? You have to wonder what they were thinking to want to kill the one who was probably the highest paid bread winner in the family. You would think they would have been more ashamed of her acting in the movies. But dating a Hindu is far worse than that apparently. And what constitutes dating? Going to the movies? Sleeping with him? Apparently just being in the same room with him could be enough to bring dishonor in the eyes of a Muslim or a Hindu. Lest we be unfair, the Hindus have their fair share of honor killings too. However the Muslims have had the most honor killings in the last 20 years.

It has been said that the measure of a successful thriving society is the way the women and children are treated. Looking at the abysmal treatment of women in the Muslim culture it is no wonder some Muslim countries are still stuck in the 10th century. If we are to make any progress towards world peace, health, harmony and happiness this must change. In order to change, western countries must never ever tolerate barbaric treatment of women. It is time to make Muslims in western countries understand that Sharia Law will never prevail over the Rule of Law. It is time to take a stand. It is as simple as that.

NEW YORK'S CRACKDOWN ON SMOKE-EASIES

NEW YORK'S CRACKDOWN ON SMOKE-EASIES I'm amused! Apparently the New York City Health Department is going after clubs that encourage illegal drug use. The drug? Tobacco! Seems there are some clubs that permit smoking in direct defiance of the city-wide smoking ban and the health department has hired young hip tobacco narcs to sniff 'em out. Gosh, I guess people are just gonna smoke no matter what laws are in place. Hope our newly reformed health care system can deal with it. Oh...right...we'll just deny them care because they broke the law. Yeah...that's it!

Health Care Reform Leads to ER Overcrowding

Increased coverage doesn't necessarily mean increased access to care.  Medicaid patients make up the highest users of ER care.  Health care reform will add 16 million more patients to the Medicaid ranks.  There aren't enough primary care providers to take care of all these new patients so where do you think they will go when they need help?  That's right, to the ERs which is the most expensive way to care for patients.  True reform needs to address cost and access, not just coverage.  Do you think congress thought about this? Not!!

They Signed For Us

They Signed For Us What a wonderful article by Chip Wood from Personal Liberty reminding us of the determination and sacrifices of those who signed the Declaration of Independence! There is a link at the end of the article where you can get a free download of the book They Signed For Us, by Merle Sinclair and Annabel Douglas MacArthur. As we prepared to celebrate Independence Day may we all reflect upon whether or not we are prepared to pledge "our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor" to our nation once again. Are we willing to endure the hardships and losses that some of the signers did for our country, our liberty? How many of us would be willing to sign the Declaration of Independence today, knowing that we could be branded as terrorists and traitors? As we head for the beaches, fire up the grills, and watch the fireworks let us also count the cost of freedom. The time is coming when we will have to pay the price. Are we ready?

Obamacare tanning tax arrives tomorrow | Washington Examiner

Obamacare tanning tax arrives tomorrow Washington Examiner Time to start writing about Obamacare again, as the tanning bed tax starts tomorrow. This is the first of many more taxes to come. Starting tomorrow there will be a 10% tax just to use a tanning bed. Some genius thought this would be a great way to raise money but I wonder if they thought about what would happen if people simply stopped using tanning beds to avoid the tax? Hmmm....
