Kagan On ACOG Memo--Did I Do That?

You've got to be kidding me.

This issue probably won' t be enough to keep her from being confirmed.  Her stance on constitutional law is what ultimately should.  Reports keep saying she is likely to be confirmed, so it almost doesn't seem to matter.  Too bad.

In Her Own Hand: Kagan's manipulation on partial birth abortion UPDATE: Senate Republicans ready to ask about it?

This just in from Hot Air, as an update to a previous post about Elena Kagan rewriting an ACOG statement concerning partial birth abortion.  Apparently she will be asked about this today during the hearings.  What do you bet it's a couple of questions and then onto other matters?  Call your senators immediately and demand that they do not confirm this woman to the highest court in the land.

"Warning Shot to Liberals: Supreme Court Affirms Gun Rights" - Patriot Update

"Warning Shot to Liberals: Supreme Court Affirms Gun Rights" - Patriot Update Not!! The author states that the recent Supreme Court decision should be a sign unto liberals that the second amendment still stands. I beg to differ, and here's why. Yes the second amendment was upheld 5-4 and it is a no brainer as to who the dissenters were. But this should have been a unanimous decision if our justices truly understood the Constitution. The lack of consensus should be a warning sign for gun owners that the fight is not over. We are close to putting another liberal on the bench who has little regard for the Constitution and there may be yet another in the near future. Our Secretary of State is in talks with the UN over a small arms treaty that, if ratified, would ban small arms in the US as well as world wide. So while this decision is a victory, it doesn't mean we have entirely won the war. What the libs are really hoping for is that gun ownership will no longer be a critical issue in the upcoming elections. We need to show them that nothing could be further from the truth, that we will be ever vigilant as to our constitutional rights.

"Invasion! U.S. 'sanctuary city' succumbs to illegals" - Patriot Update Maywood, CA, a sanctuary city with an estimated half of it's population illegal immigrants, has gone bankrupt. Most of the reports cite the recession as the cause. The author of this article begs to differ, citing the disproportional number of illegal immigrants making up the town's population. Do you think the illegals are grateful for their sanctuary? Check out their signs from a rally in 2006.

Kagan Scandal Brewing?

If this is true about Elena Kagan she should not be confirmed.  Click on the title for details.  I thought it was bad enough that she would potentially use international law over the Constitution to argue cases!  But if she did indeed manipulate ACOG documents to make them more in line with democratic policy that would be even worse.  I hope it is not true.  Someone please tell me this is wrong.

Homeschoolers Alarmed By Kagan Nomination

Click on the title for details.  Homeschoolers are upset about Kagan because in many countries homeschooling is forbidden.  Using international law to argue cases opens the door for homeschooling to be potentially struck down in the US.  Homeschoolers shouldn't be the only ones alarmed.  Everyone in America should be alarmed by Kagan or any other SOTUS nominee who would use international law to argue any case.  Call your senators now and tell them not to confirm Kagan or anyone else who favors international law over the Constitution!

GOP YouCut Program Up to 1,000,000 Voters

Looks like the GOP's YouCut Program, where participants can vote on their ideas for spending cuts, is growing ever more popular! I must admit that even though I liked the idea, I had doubts as to whether it would get anyone's attention or if it would work.  I am delighted to see I was wrong.  Click on the title for details and to vote for your choice of program to cut.  This week I voted to require collection of unpaid taxes from Federal employees, with savings of over 1 billion dollars. Each week the House gives an up or down vote for the program selected and the results are posted on the site, giving a snapshot of your reps priorities and how they are voting.  That alone is valuable information.

MRC.org - Media Research Center  Seems the sponsors have brains enough to know that religious bigotry doesn't sell.  Let's hope they never change their minds and let's hope this means that the show JC, a spoof on God and Jesus, will never make it onto the air waves.  Bravo for CARB!

Looks like Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Atlanta might have let the cat out of the bag about the real purpose of the DISCLOSE Act.  Click on the title to read the details and see the video.  While the title does not reflect his exact words, it isn't hard to guess his true meaning as he rambles on and on about how we will all now be protected from evil corporate money influence.  I got a kick out of his reference to Goldman and Sachs supporting Republican candidates, as they gave HUGE contributions to the Democrats!

Think it will pass the Senate? Sigh. What have we come to as a country, that any political party, that any American would think it a good thing to curtail free speech? Sometimes I think we deserve to lose our freedoms, as we do nothing to defend them. Heartbreaking...just heartbreaking.

The Case Against Kagan--Confirmation Hearings Start Monday

The confirmation hearings for Elaine Kagan will begin Monday.  If you haven't done so already, please call or email your Senators concerning this.  Click on the title to see a good article from the Washington Times outlining the reasons why she should not be confirmed.

What concerns me the most about Ms Kagan is her stance on international law as precedent to argue cases.  All of the reasons listed should give pause, but this one alone is enough to disqualify her in my book.  The Constitution is the foundation for US law, and thus should be the ONLY precedent for interpreting US law.  It is most telling that Ms Kagan, as Dean of Harvard Law School, dropped constitutional law as a requirement for graduation.  This action alone speaks volumes about her willingness and ability to interpret the law strictly according to the Constitution and it should be the biggest red flag waving from day one of the congressional confirmation hearings.  Think it will be?

Airbrushing/Rewriting History--So Easy With The Internet

Now that General Petraeus is their saving grace, it seems some lefty sites are changing their minds about him. However they aren't printing retractions--they are actually going back to previously written articles and posts and changing the wording!!!!  Click on the title for details.  Historians beware.  You can never be able to truly trust anything on the internet.  There's something to be said for books.  You can't go back and change the words.

How an Alabama fire chief risked jail to save town from Gulf oil spill - CSMonitor.com Now this is what I call good old fashioned American ingenuity, leadership and resourcefulness. US Urges Gaza Aid Delivery Over Land

Click on the title for details. The first rule in martial arts is to never telegraph your moves to your opponent.  In other words don't let your opponent know what you are going to do before you do it.  Our dear Secretary of State should take heed of this rule.  Seriously, does she really think the Israelis incapable of land interdiction?

BP: Blame Petroleum

BP: Blame Petroleum John Meyers from Personal Liberty Digest speculates as to the Green Movement's silence on the oil spill and makes recommendations as to what to do with your BP stocks. You would think that environmental groups would be screaming from the roof tops about what is happening to the Gulf. But why should they when it represents such a perfect opportunity to further their agenda?

Actually I wonder why people everywhere are not screaming from the rooftops. I suspect the reason is that there are just too many disasters going on right now. We have no idea where to focus our anger because there are just too many people and things to blame.

WPR Article | The Realist Prism: Gulf Spill Threatens U.S. Energy Security

WPR Article The Realist Prism: Gulf Spill Threatens U.S. Energy Security The author makes an excellent point that it is more accurate to compare the BP Oil Spill to the Three Mile Island disaster than to Hurricane Katrina, in terms of the effects the spill will have on our future energy policies.

I remember when Three Mile Island happened. That disaster scared hell out of everyone about nuclear power in those days.  Everyone had visions of three-eyed fish in the rivers and fears of mutated children.  As with so many things, our fears were rooted in some fact.  But our fears were so big and so overwhelming that they blinded us to the many good things nuclear energy could offer. If we hadn't have let our fears get the better of us we might have been able to develop a tremendous nuclear program and we might have been far less dependent on oil today.

The author warns us that we are in the same danger of allowing the fear generated by the spill to negatively affect our ability to make sound energy policy.  We must not allow this to happen.  We must not make the same mistake that we did with nuclear power.  Now more than ever we need to stay focused and visionary.  Our survival depends on it.

Obama Intelligence Failures Behind Blair Resignation

Here is another article submitted by my brother who hopes that the administration listens to what Rep. Peter Hoekstra, the author, has to say about the reasons behind the Dennis Blair resignation and about what needs to happen next.  He says though when he read paragraph 6 he felt that it was unlikely that they would.  I think Rep Hoekstra makes some very good points.  However I found the comments attached to this article most telling about what the public thinks.

The Case For Calling Them Nitwits

Another excellent article sent by my brother.  He has a unique perspective on life due to his job so whenever he sends me anything it is timely, accurate, and important.  Click on the title to read how perhaps we should adjust our terrorist strategy to reflect that most terrorist operatives are idiots as opposed to the patient, skilled, masterminds we have thought them to be in the past.  I say adjust it indeed but don't let them know that we know...shhh!

Prisoners convert to Islam for jail perks - Times Online#cid=OTC-RSS&attr=2015164#cid=OTC-RSS&attr=2015164

Prisoners convert to Islam for jail perks - Times Online#cid=OTC-RSS&attr=2015164#cid=OTC-RSS&attr=2015164 I have friends who are involved in Memphis area prison ministries and they tell me that they have a very difficult time because the Muslims don't want them there. Reading this article, I can see why Islam is so popular in prisons. As a matter of fact, Islam is the number one religion of conversion among prison populations! If I were a prisoner I could see myself converting--or at least say I converted--to get those perks! No wonder Christianity takes in the shorts--we offer eternal life and Islam offers 72 virgins and a chance to put violent nasty tendencies to good use all in the name of holy jihad. Whatta deal!!!

The good news is that as hard as it is my friends have an active ministry with many prisoners finding the Lord. They take it day by day and just keep talking about Jesus. I keep them in my heart and prayers always, knowing they tread where I would never dare and that one day God will reward. The question for all of us is whether we want our perks now or eternally with our Lord. For me, Jesus wins hands down.

Israeli Students Trying to Organize Flotilla To Turkey

Well now isn't this a hoot? I think we should all go.  We can rent boats from Carnival Cruise Lines and call it the We Are The World Flotilla.  We'll just float around giving aid, arms, and ass-kickings to everyone and have one giant Middle East party!  All silliness aside, we seem to be headed that way anyway.  We might as well have a good time!!

10,000 Throng To Protest Ground Zero Mosque

Click on the title for details and to see some great pictures of the June 6th protest in NYC at Ground Zero which drew people from all over the nation.  I sure wish I could have been there!  I am not good at estimating crowds but I have heard estimates of five to ten thousand people in attendance. After you read this please email it to everyone you know because there was no mainstream media coverage and this may be the best information available.

There is a proposal now to sue the government to make Ground Zero a war memorial.  I personally think that if not a war memorial, it should be some kind of memorial.  If not a memorial, then build the trade centers again bigger and better than ever before or leave it as a giant hole in the ground, but absolutely positively do not ever build or establish a mosque anywhere near Ground Zero.

Never, never a mosque.

Helen Thomas' Agency Dumps Her As Client

What was she thinking would happen???

I have to admit when I first heard about the comments she made I didn't believe it.  The volume control on my computer wasn't working so I thought the video was a joke.  Then I heard it.  I just couldn't believe that anyone would be that stupid, especially Helen Thomas.  She has always been controversial, sometimes outrageous, but she has never been so out of control as to make insanely stupid comments into a live mike.  What happened????

Helen, in the words of the great Bill Engvald, "here's your sign" to retire immediately!

Genital Nicking--Danger of Moral Relativism Still Remains

Click on the title for a great article and updates concerning the recent issue with Female Genital Mutilation.  Apparently the American Academy of Pediatrics was not the only medical organization that took stupid pills over this issue.  Looks like the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Obstetricians is considering the "nicking option" as well!!  The forces to bear on this issue would have you think that it is a global phenomenon, that everybody is thinking about it, everybody should be doing it.  They would have you think it's ok to mutilate genitals in the name of cultural diversity, tolerance and acceptance.  They would have you think that nicking is a far more suitable solution than having the girls undergo more brutal procedures.  The truth is, policies reflecting this kind of thinking clearly are developed more to provide physicians a way out of a complicated situation than to protect patients.  Thankfully the AAP  revised theirs and I hope this sends a message to the rest of the medical world that all forms of FGM are completely unacceptable.  Still this raises very troubling questions of why the AAP Ethics Committee even "went there" in the first place.  If the welfare of young girls and women had truly been foremost in their minds, nicking would have--should have-- never been an issue.   I agree with Ms Ziganto, the author of the article, that we must never ever allow ourselves to "embrace barbarity in the name of cultural diversity and tolerance."   Some things are just plain wrong.

Tinseltown's War On Christianity--How Do Christians Fight Back?

Click on the title for details about how Comedy Central plans a new series featuring Jesus Christ moving to New York City.  If this series includes everything this article says it does, it will probably excel at nothing more than tastelessness, blasphemy, tackiness, vulgarity, and just plain stupidity.  That being said, while I do not dispute Comedy Central's right to free speech and artistic expression there is no doubt that it is much easier and more cowardly to disparage religions that won't fight back.  The lack of vigorous Christian response to this seems on the surface to indicate that we are turning the other cheek.  But I think it signifies something much larger, that we are at a point where we know more about Islam and other religions than  we do about Christianity, about Jesus.  Instead of passing our Christian faith to our children like our parents and grandparents did, we have raised a generation much more open to other belief systems and much less knowledgable about the faith of their forefathers.  It is no wonder that those in Hollywood are more open and ready to challenge Christianity.  They know we are much less likely to defend something we are lukewarm about at best and hostile to at worst.

It is time for us as Christians to develop a way to articulate our faith and values to others.  This is our best hope of standing against the forces of indifference and hostility.  We can start with our own stories of what God has done for us through Jesus Christ.  Evangelism is most effective when we share our heartfelt experiences with others.  I think a great place to start would be with Comedy Central.  Wouldn't it be awesome if thousands of Christians slammed the producers with stories of  Jesus's real power, real redemption, awesome strength, and amazing love in our lives?  Here is a link to Comedy Central where we can share our stories and concerns.  http://www.comedycentral.com/help/questionsCC.jhtml
We Christians need to realize that Jesus endured far worse than being made fun of in a TV show and HE BEAT IT ALL-hatred, loneliness, desertion, despair, unimaginable pain, even death!  He is all powerful and all loving and will be the one left standing at the end!  This is the message we need to engrave on our hearts and joyfully share with the world.  Start with Comedy Central.

GETZ: Seeing a fallen soldier home - Washington Times

GETZ: Seeing a fallen soldier home - Washington Times Yes I know Memorial Day is over but I just had to write about this because it brings tears to my eyes everytime I think about it. Colleen Getz recounts her experience giving up her seat on a flight to a family of a fallen soldier enroute home for his funeral.  Her gesture, and those of the others who gave up their seats so the family of six could get home, remind us that we need to always remember we are fighting a war and that we have troops in harms way. We need to remember and support their families. We need to love and care for them in any and every way we possibly can. Above all, we need to thank them because that's what they want and need most of all.

I witnessed a similar gesture on my flight home Monday, Memorial Day. Just before take off, the flight attendant announced that someone in first class had given his seat to a young troop in thanks for his service to our country. Everyone cheered and applauded.  I wondered if the gentleman who gave up his seat had read Ms Getz's article and taken her words to heart, that "gratitude should be foremost in American hearts and minds" towards those who have gone before us and to those who are still here fighting for us.  I was humbled by the fact that because I was so focused on getting home, I hadn't even noticed the young troop in the crowd as we were boarding the aircraft .  The gentleman in question probably didn't think anything of it but I want him to know that I will remember his gesture forever.  I thank him for taking the time to look out for one young troop, and for reminding me that we can--and should--make a big difference in the lives of our troops and their families, in a thousand different ways both large and small.

NUGENT: Every day is Memorial Day - Washington Times

NUGENT: Every day is Memorial Day - Washington Times Thanks Ted for reminding me to think daily of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. I need to have in my heart a spirit of victory, not defeat, for the sake of those who have gone before me and those who continue to fight. God Bless our troops!!!!!
