Sanctioning Barbarity: American Academy of Pediatrics and the New York Times

Sanctioning Barbarity: American Academy of Pediatrics and the New York Times Well if this isn't the ultimate act of political correctness. In an effort to keep families from sending girls overseas for female genital mutilation (FGM), the American Academy of Pediatrics is advocating a "milder form of it" be performed here in the states under "medical supervision." What's next, beheadings under medical supervision to avoid rusty swords?? Medically supervised or not, barbarism is still barbarism!!! All female physicians belonging to the American Academy of Pediatrics should immediately resign membership in protest. The American Nurses Association and other professional nursing associations should issue statements against FGM and this incredibly stupid policy. Women's groups need to send letters to your senators, congressmen as well as the AAP demanding that this never take place in our country. If we allow FGM to happen here in the name of political correctness and misguided cultural sensitivity, no one will be safe anywhere in the world. Especially women.
