TRUTH OR LIE?

August 9th, 2009, the President gave a speech to "clear up" the "lies" about his health care plan and tell us the "truth" about what it would do for us and wouldn't do to us. The President, during his speech was called a liar by Congressman Joe Wilson. Although it is against the Congressional rules to call the President a liar, I understand the frustration felt by Joe Wilson. The President is very skilled at making statements that can not be called lies, yet he knows are not true. You might be asking, "how can he do that?" Well, I'll go through a couple and you will see how this is done by a skillful wordsmith. The President said, " There is a provision in this bill that say's people who are here unlawfully can not access this system." Here he is telling the truth. Yet, being a "Constitutional scholar", he must know that Federal Courts have already ruled against States that have tried to deny benefits to illegal aliens ruling that any benefits funded by the federal government to the citizens of the United States can not be denied to illegals because this would be considered class discrimination. The Federal government can not legislate anything that would benefit one class over another. As a "Constitutional scholar" he must know this. Therefore, the fact that the bill say's illegals can't access any national health care program is an illusion to make this program less bitter to swallow. Did the President lie? Not technically, but the courts have spoken and the President can't overule the courts.
The President also said that there is no provision in the bill for abortion. Well, the President also must know that courts have ruled that unless there is a specific restriction on use of funding for abortion, it must be funded. So Mr. President, don't tell us there is no provision in the bill for funding abortions, tell us where it is specifically prohibited. Did the President lie? If there is no specific restriction against it, again, technically he is not lying, just word smithing.
The President said, "If you like your insurance coverage you will be able to keep it", yet the Government health care plan would mandate what insurance companies must cover. Many people have catastrophic insurance policies and are willing to pay out of pocket for anything less serious. In fact, people can choose from a variety of different levels of coverage which effects the cost of the policy. Obviously, if the government is going to mandate certain coverage, some people are not going to be able to keep their current policies.
The issue of death panels has been blown out of proportion. Conservatives are not saying, as the President tries to spin it, that the Government will be "killing grandma". The President was asked a question at a town hall meeting. The person asking the question had a grandmother who was over 90 years old, I don't remember her exact age. The grandmother was given 6 months to live unless she got a pace maker. To make a long story short, she got her pace maker with private insurance and is still living and enjoying life 5 years later. The President was asked if grandma would have gotten the same treatment under his national health care plan. His answer is what conservatives are talking about. He said that we will have to have guide lines, and that maybe grandma should be told that this is not the best thing for her. That maybe grandma should just take a pain pill. In other words, "hey Grandma, you've had a good life. Take the pill and except the fact that your going to die." Now, many people might say that no one will be forced onto the public option and Grandma would have gotten the pace maker anyway because she had private insurance. Now here is the biggest deception of all. Beside the fact that there is certain language that would force people into the public option, lets look at this logically. How long will it take for millions of people to realize that they can save mucho denero by hopping onto the government plan instead of paying for a private plan? Also, it will cost employers less to pay the 8 % tax to put their employees on the government plan than to pay for their private insurance. Less face it, this plan will put private insurance out of business.
The President say's he wants to create competition. He gives the example of Alabama. He say's 4 insurance companies have a monopoly on insurance in that State, and that the public option would create competition. Why are there only 4 insurance companies in Alabama? Because right now people are required to buy insurance only from companies doing business in the State they live in. I live in New York. I can't buy insurance from a company in Georgia where insurance is much cheaper. There are States in this country that have blue cross, blue shield policies for 100 dollars a month. If people in New York could buy those policies, insurance companies in New York would have to lower their prices and give better service in order to stay in business. That's competition! This is all about power and control. It has always been the goal of the progressives to have an all powerful and controlling government in order to create their imaginary utopia where every one is equal. It seems I remember reading a quote somewhere, " Americans are so enamored with equality that they would rather live under the equality of servitude or slavery than the inequality of freedom and liberty."

This is Paul Revere reminding you, 'THE RED COATS ARE COMING"
