Principles for Allocation of Scarce Medical Interventions

Click on the title to read a fascinating--and chilling-- article written by Govind Persad, Alan Wertheimer and Ezekiel Emanuel (brother of Rahm Emanuel and the White House health advisor) from the Department of Bioethics, National Institutes of Medicine. They discuss the different systems of allocation used currently, and then suggest an alternative one, that of the "complete lives system," which "prioritises younger people who have not yet lived a complete life, and also incorporates prognosis, saves the most lives..." No doubt about it, this article advocates rationing for the elderly and you can bet it is a cornerstone of Obamacare. It sends chills up and down my spine to think that such people as this are in charge of our health care now! Contact your reps and say no to rationing!!
