Pearl Harbor Erased: Happy Islamic New Year!

Click on the title to read about the brou-ha-ha that ensued when a local store chain in Florida published a calendar marking Dec 7th as Islamic New Year and omitting Pearl Harbor Day. Outrage and disgust are just a few of the emotions I felt when I read this article. How tragic that there are people in this country who have forgotten or do not want to remember that day! The insipid response from the chain's public relations department indicates a desire to make the whole thing go away rather than address the mistake. The lesson in this is that when you forget your own history and do not have pride and love for your own country, it is easy for other cultures to take over.
