Sotomayor Quits Elite Women's Club

Click on the title to read the article. Looks like Judge Sotomayor is following in Obama's footsteps. Just as he quit a church he belonged to for 20 years because it had become a political liability, so she is quitting a longtime membership in a club because it has become a distraction to the confirmation process. Hmmmm......What do you think? Just because she quits a club doesn't mean she has left behind her beliefs. Those beliefs will likely go with her to the Supreme Court. Write to your senators and demand they fight her confirmation!

First Requirement Empathy

It seems Obama's first requirement for a Supreme Court Judge is--empathy. Empathy is the ability to share feelings and to understand another's emotions and feelings; in other words, the ability to put oneself in another's shoes, according to Wikipedia. The fact that Obama's top requirement is the ability to empathize should send chills up and down the spines of Americans. If a judge or justice is required to be empathetic, how can there possibly be any objective interpretation of the law? Without objectivity, a judge or justice could intrepret a law any way he or she wants to just because he or she empathizes with the victim or cause! I find it hard to believe that Obama went to Harvard Law School, or any law school for that matter, when he comes up with crazy stuff like this. All the more reason to write your reps demanding the top requirement be objectivity instead of empathy. Senator Hatch Warns Obama Not To Nominate Sotomayor

Aristotle once said "the law is reason free from passion." Judges are supposed to intrepret the law as it exists in its current form. They are not supposed to impose their own passions and opinions on the interpretation of the law. Senator Hatch is right to warn Obama not to nominate a judge who clearly uses her passions and opinions to influence interpretation of the law. We don't need legislators sitting on the bench. We need judges who will objectively and fairly intrepret the law. The powers that be appear to be anxious to have a judge in place by the time the next court convenes so we can expect the confirmation process to be speedy. It is important to let your reps know you won't tolerate a judge who isn't objective and fair. Start making your concerns known now!
