I couldn't help it. I just had to stay up as long as I could to watch the returns last night. As I watched election after election go GOP I thought about how I had watched election night two years ago with a much different result. I remember going to bed thinking at the time that I had witnessed the demise of the GOP and that it would be years before it came to power again, if at all. How things change! But the change was not a fluke or an accident. It was the result of hard work of an awakened people who were determined to put this country back on track. Whether or not GOP officials care to admit it the Tea Party movement had everything to do with this great awakening especially in the GOP ranks. However, the GOP needs to remember that this is not so much an endorsement as it is a second chance. The GOP is definitely on probation!

The Tea Party Isn’t Racist - The Daily Beast
The Tea Party Isn’t Racist - The Daily Beast So if you were an organization vested in keeping the same identity you have had for over a hundred years and you felt threatened by the changing political atmosphere what would you do? You would reach for your old tried and true weapon to fight it of course. But what if that weapon was out of date and ineffective? Would you still use it? You most certainly would if it was the only one you had. This is the case with the NAACP. It's most powerful weapon has always been the race card. But the trouble with the race card is that it is losing its punch in an atmosphere where most people realize we need to move beyond race to solve our problems. It is also a totally ineffectual weapon against an organization that won't back down in fear of being labeled racist. I remember the days when the NAACP was a powerhouse organization that did much good for the people it served. But such actions as voting on a referendum against supposed racist elements in the Tea Party movement only serve to keep its members stuck in the past. The question is, will the NAACP leadership realize this and change their platform so they can truly advance the people they serve? Sadly I fear, that yesterday's ruling suggests they fully intend to keep things just the way they are. It is a tragedy because the American people, Tea Party affiliated or not, are getting tired of and impatient with the race card. One day the NAACP and other similar organizations will find that the race card weapon will be about as useful as a musket against a nuclear bomb. Good luck with that.

FOXNews.com - NAACP Poised to Vote on Resolution Calling Tea Party 'Racist'
FOXNews.com - NAACP Poised to Vote on Resolution Calling Tea Party 'Racist' Oh yeah, right. Sorry but this is just a political ploy that won't work and will backfire terribly. The NAACP really should be careful who it calls racist as they are going to end up looking pretty foolish, and pretty darn racist themselves.
By the way, Tea Party people don't care about being called racist. They know they are not racist, they know what they stand for and they won't let a little name calling or a vote on a resolution from one of the most narrow minded, politically minded organizations in the country to stand in their way. Keep the names and the actions coming. It only strengthens their resolve.

Tea Partiers and The Whole Racism Thing
Click on the title to see a great article about combating the racism taunts that tea partiers constantly hear these days. My mother always taught me that when somebody calls you names to just ignore them. That's what the author of this article is advising as well. Wait until I tell my mom that a political science professor agrees with her! In all seriousness, the longer I live the more I find out just how right my mom was about this and a lot of other things. In my heart I know I am not a racist and I do not care what anyone else may say or think. I don't like being called names but I am willing to endure it temporarily because I know the truth about myself. No amount of name calling can diminish the truth.
