Judge strikes down healthcare reform law Reuters This decision was much broader than the Virginia one because the judge ruled that the individual mandate was unconstitutional and couldn't be separated from the rest of the bill. So basically the entire law is invalidated if this decision stands. It is almost a certainty that it will go to the Supreme Court now. The fireworks have already begun but in my humble opinion this was to be expected since Congress was crazy enough to pass this bill without making absolutely sure it was constitutional. This is what happens when bills are rushed through without reading them!Freedom's Pitchfork

The Egyptian Unrest: A Special Report | STRATFOR
Image via Wikipedia
The Egyptian Unrest: A Special Report STRATFOR An in-depth report on the situation in Egypt from STRATFOR Global Intelligence. Things are very fluid there and it is hard to keep up with all of the news coming in. I will post anything that gives a good explanation of events and why things are happening. Please forgive me if I don't post the very latest information. It is hard for one little blogger to keep up! One thing I will say is that we should all be very skeptical when we hear people call for Mubarak's overthrow. His overthrow would not be good for Egypt or for the rest of the world due to the huge power vacuum that would be left behind. He may be a dictator but he is better than the Taliban or any other radical Islamic group! We mustn't be influenced by those who would tell us otherwise especially if they are from CAIR or any other Muslim Brotherhood group. If Mubarak leaves, the door will be open for radical Islam to control the Middle East. Think you will feel good with the radical jihadists controlling all those lovely oil fields? I don't think so, especially since there is a ban on off shore drilling in this country!

Mideast Expert Phares: Egyptian Turmoil Could Push It Into Jihad hands

Mideast Expert Phares: Egyptian Turmoil Could Push It Into Jihad hands So we have a situation now where the Egyptian unrest could lead to a Muslim Brotherhood takeover. Egypt is one of our allies and it would be devastating to see it fall into jihadi hands. The question now is whether or not Mubarak will stay put as leader. Let's hope he does. The alternative is not pretty. It is very alarming and concerning that the Egyptian government turned off the internet. Nations the world over should take note as to what can happen whenwhen the government takes away communication freedom and access. Related articles

Obama Orders Study on Socialism - Chuck Norris - Townhall Conservative
Obama Orders Study on Socialism - Chuck Norris - Townhall Conservative Looks like Obama has ordered a study of our current government to see if we have too many or too redundant regulations that could possibly slow economic growth or adversely affect American businesses. As with so many things in this administration, this executive order looks and sounds good on the surface. In fact there are some from both parties who think that this review is a good first step, as indicated in some of the articles below. But we are always left to wonder about Obama's true intentions especially when he orders the government to police itself without an outside, non-government independent audit. Now that we have a new congress we need to be very concerned about President Obama's executive power and closely scrutinize every executive order he signs. We have to be careful that we don't become so focused on the legislature that we miss critical executive decisions. We need to understand the importance of executive power and how it could be used against us. Now is the time to be even more vigilant because government by executive order is a clear path to dictatorship and most definitely unconstitutional.

Old media now asking "Where's the birth certificate??"
Image via Wikipedia
Old media now asking about birth certificate Well it took awhile but it looks like the mainstream media is finally taking a harder look at the birth certificate issue. Maybe we can finally get the birth certificate/eligibility issue resolved. This whole issue just shows that we need to put good old fashioned objective investigative reporting back in our media. A biased media that chooses political correctness over truth is a threat to freedom. Kudos to Joseph Farah from World Net Daily as well as to all the other journalists and bloggers who kept the issue alive even when it was politically incorrect and even dangerous at times to do so.
